Learnt alot yesterday during TWAM jammin'. First, it was Jasmine's teaching on what attributes a biblical music ministry should have. A band is a team, everyone plays an important role; even right to the back-stage soundman and MM, imagine if there's no soundman doing sound check, imagine if there's delayed or no lyrics slides projected on the wall, imagine if the drums go off beat for even a split-second, imagine if the bass guitar doesn't groove together with the beat of the drums, imagine if the vocalist miss the entry-cue. It'll be foolish to say we're playing for God as He deserves our excellence and best! Also learnt about building community relationship with one another, fostering chemistry within one another so that with a blink of an eye, fellow musicians will know exactly what you're communicating, it's so awesome, isn't it? It's like talking with our eyes and body language and 'feeling' - and all of that without moving our lips or tongue! MAGNIFICIENT!
And band isn't about who's-playing-the-loudest or who's-playing-the-best, it's how-we-can-blend-with-one-another-in-diversity and covering-one-another's-flaw-with-our-unique-strength!
It isn't about "my-genre", but more of "our-genre"! I believe it is possible to blend together as a band even if some of the band members are of different genre as you, on a contrary, it might even be better as we can blend those genres together and it'll sound uniquely "our-style", that's what i call working hand-in-hand in diversity!
Frankly speaking, it ain't easy being a musician, especially in a band when everyone else has different personality as you, the only difference between a secular band and a biblical band is... GOD.
I wanna practise and continue to learn, and play to the Lord with my best, 'cos He deserves nothing but the BEST I can give...
Thanks Father, for giving me this opportunity...
